Hello and welcome to my CAS Mix Up reminder post for April. It is mixed media this month, our host is Linda and the theme is paper piecing.
Once this daisy is fussy cut the petals are very fragile and liable to fall off so I found an old flower punch and cut it in black and gold to add strength and interest to the flower centre.
You can see the flower centre and the shine from the gold paper better in this photo.
I have used stamping, die cutting and fussy cutting on this card.
This daisy comes in 2 sizes, I stamped both as I wasn't sure which to use so instead of wasting the second one I made this:
I have only ever done paper piecing a few times but I do rather like the look so must think of it more often.
Hope you like them. You have until the 24th to join us in the gallery. I shall look forward to seeing you.
Supplies:
Cardstock: White stamping card; black textured cardstock; Gold foil mat stack
Stamps: Clarity Stamp
Dies: Free with Die Cutting Essentials Issue 62; small flower paper punch; stitched square by Lawn Fawn
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.
Absolutely wonderful cards! They do look awesome on their own, but that tinge of gold makes them really stand out! Your cards do inspire me to try out paper piecing for myself too! :)
ReplyDeleteTwo Beautiful paper pieced Daisy cards, Hilary. I loved the die cut background and black narrow frame. Also your black and gold accents with your black sentiment made for an elegant CAS card design. TFS the close up of the shine. Your 2nd card is simply beautiful and a wonderful design for your 2nd smaller daisy. Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely examples of paper piecing, Hilary. That daisy with the gold touches is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLovely paper piecing. The color gold just shines so nicely. [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteYour daisies are beautiful with the elegant papers to piece them! Love that die cut background too! The black background with the smaller daisy is stunning and classy!
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary,
ReplyDeleteYour cards are wonderful. I made one with paperpiecing, but was forgotten that this challenge was running. Maybe I will find time to make another card with this technique.
Hilary this is stunning and I sure love paper piecing. xx
ReplyDeleteThat Daisy is so delicate Hilary and looks really rather stylish paper pieced in the soft muted colours with the hint of gold. I'm a big fan of paper piecing and as a non colourist use it a great deal stamping onto inked offcuts.
ReplyDeleteLovely sunny morning despite another hard frost, nice for a walk.

ReplyDeleteWhat fab paper piecing Hilary - two gorgeous cards. x
ReplyDeleteSuch and elegant card, Hilary! I love the gold accents, and the sweet daisy - look at you giving us second, no THIRDS for this challenge!

Hilary, your background grid is so beautiful, and just look at that gorgeous flower in gold and white. Love the idea of the center, too. Such a great addition. Better with than without! Then you went on to make another while you had the supplies out. An opposite play with the colors, but also elegantly divine!
ReplyDeleteBoth beautiful cards and love the paper pieced daisy and embossed background on the first

Two beautiful daisy cards Hilary! I especially love the first one with the very neutral tones with hints of gold. Very beautiful with lots of texture. Elegant in design. The second card is so pretty with the daisy on dark blue. The contrast is fabulous. xx
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully elegant, Hilary! Both cards are great, but I especially love the first one! Very creative to use the punch for stability!
ReplyDeleteThe pretty paper piecing on both cards looks fantastic and I love the shine x. Both cards are elegant and are wonderful inspiration Hilary, thank you x.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous paper pieced flower Hilary, love the touches of gold and the die cut in the background.
ReplyDeleteThese are both beautiful Hilary and I love how you strengthened the centre of your flowers with a smaller flower punch. I LOVE the look of paper piecing but I've got Crafters Block I think!! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful cards. The choice of paper makes you look very classy!
ReplyDeleteHilary they are so gorgeous and so elegant!! Beautiful cards!
