A Little Extra

Hello,
Today I have an extra post for this months CAS Stencil Challenge, the prompt is gilding flakes. In the process of coming up with my design team cards I made some extras which I thought I would share as I was quite pleased with them.

I have a stencil that is a set of flowers by Craftime, I think they must be one of the first stencils that I bought and I decided to try the glitter and gilding flakes technique with them.

I used sticky backed vellum again, which I cut to size, the stencil was then placed on the sticky side and gilded. Then the stencil was removed and the exposed sticky bit was covered in fine translucent glitter. To make the most of the translucent nature of the vellum, I cut a rectangle from the base card using the crinkly edged die from Crafters Companion. I then used the same die and the one larger to create the frame. The vellum piece was stick inside the card and the frame attached. I heat embossed the sentiment in opaque white.

Because there were several flowers on the stencil I made several cards:

In the picture above you can see that I did the sunflower by adding the glitter to the stencil and the gilding flakes to the surrounding sticky bit.

You can't see it in the photos but the light will shine through the card if it is positioned right giving an added bit of interest.

I am also sharing this at:

  6. You do elegant so well Hilarly and I always admire your use of gilding flakes, for years I have dabbled with them but rarely happy with the end results which are usually a desk full of particles, sticky fingers and half finished card.
