A little Embossing

Today I have a really simple card to share that showcases my new, all time favourite, embossing folder.
The folder was lightly inked with a brayer on the flat side before embossing. If it works, you get this lovely soft colour backing the white embossing. The other really great thing about this embossing folder is that it hasn't cracked the paper once and I have used it loads of times now.

The little bird branch was cut from co-ordinating paper along with the sentiment. Absolutely no stamping, that's what makes it quick and easy. It is also easy to emboss the envelope flap with this folder, as there is no right way up.

The sun was actually shining when I took these photos, which was a mixed blessing.

I was so pleased with my first attempt that I made 2 more in different colours. Which is your favourite, peach, yellow or pale grey? I am pleased that I have been using my Christmas presents, well some of them anyway! I have got lots more in my NBUS basket as I bought from the post Christmas sales too. Sometimes it is just too hard to resist! Now I am trying to delete the emails without looking at them first.

Today is my youngest daughters birthday, she is 42, that is so hard to believe. I made her card using another Christmas present, perhaps I will share it soon.
*Happy Birthday Alice*

I am sharing the first card at:
Mix it up Challenge #63 - anything goes with the option of no stamping
Can you handle the pressure - Anything goes with a twist of dots. No twist for me today unless the flower centres can count as dots!
NBUS #46 - The folder and the die cut branch are NBUS

Supplies:
Ink: Catherine Pooler bellini, chiffon, mint to be
Embossing folder: Spellbinders Flower Frenzy
Dies: Spellbinders sealed birds; Altenew essential sentiment strips

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

  3. I love not-stamped cards, they appeal to me more than stamped ones and agree with you, can be also more quick to do. :) Love that embossing technique, I have some papers embossed in this way in my folders, ready to be used (when?).
Embossing also the flap of the envelope is a so elegant touch. Your three cards are all wonderful, but my favourite is the first one, more warm and sweet.
    Hugs, have a lovely weekend!

  5. A pretty card for your Daughter Hilary and yes it's scary when we reflect on their age sometimes. It looks pretty in all colour ways but I think the rich colours of the first may be my favourite.

  16. So pretty, Hilary! I think the peach is my favorite. No the gray. Or maybe the yellow! All are fantastic!

  17. Oooh, that's a beautiful embossing folder! I can never get this inking technique to come out quite right. Maybe with a 3D... I'll have to try again because your cards are so pretty and perfect. I love seeing all the different colors, like a candy shop. This looks like fun! This bird die is amazing, too. I saw it somewhere the other day and was smitten. As much as I love yellow, I was thinking my favorite is the peach. But then I can't help but find the gray so soothing and peaceful. I think it's my favorite today. Tomorrow I may choose differently. Happy birthday to your daughter!

  18. I adore this. It reminds me of the plaster work you see in Stately homes. My fave is the peach followed by the grey but only because I think the contrast is more obvious.

  24. I can see why you love the ef, Hilary--absolutely beautiful design! I've never had such great results with that technique, but you've made me want to try again! They're all beautiful but I have to say the peach one steals the show for me! Really love that you kept them monochromatic with the diecuts! Pinning for inspiration!
