Today is the launch day for the April CAS Stencil Challenge, this month it is hosted by Cathy and the theme is gilding flakes.
I am not very experienced with gilding flakes and have only recently added some to my stash, so this challenge has helped me learn how to use them. I think my reluctance to buy them was because they can be quite messy to use, but I decided to get over myself and have a go.
After watching the videos that are linked on the challenge block, I set to and made a number of cards.
I really went for the bling with this card and so it was hard to photograph. The stencil is called petal burst by Sweet Dixie, after covering a 6x6 piece of card with double sided tape, I stuck the stencil down and filled the stencil gaps with gilding flakes. Once I was happy they were well stuck I removed the stencil and covered the remaining sticky area with fine glitter. You really do need a fine glitter for this technique to work well.
I managed to cut 4 shapes from my 6x6 panel. You can see what I did with them in the pictures below.
I hope I haven't dazzled you with all the bling but sometimes it is nice to be blingy! I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery this month. Stay safe and well.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

How wonderful to get 4 beautiful cards from your gilded stenciling Hilary! They all are worthy of framing - The gold die cuts and framings really set off the gilding flakes wonderfully!

Wow...4 Gorgeous dazzling gilded flakes cards, Hilary! TFS all your finished cards. I really like the idea of getting multiple images, since the technique can be a bit messy..so why not get multiple cards, since you have all the tools, flakes, etc. out:-) TFS your beauties, my friend. Stay Safe and Creative. Hugs..Nancy

I've never worked with this material before, but it looks great.
Oh, Hilary! I don't have a single flake in my possession, but I'm happy just to sit and ogle yours! You really left your worries behind for a good long session of gilding! All gorgeous, and I love your gold with this kraft card stock!
