We Love Stamping March Reminder

Today is the 18th so time for a reminder about the current challenge over at We Love Stamping. The challenge where you can showcase your stamps and your skill at using them.

This month our theme is:

**Anything Stamped with a Spring Theme**

We have been enjoying some lovely Spring weather recently and it has definitely raised my spirits. The tulips aren't quite out yet, but the daffodils are glorious.

I have used another of my turnabout stamps for this one and have actually made a square card as I didn't want to cut up my background. I don't know whether you can see in the photos but the green turn was clear heat embossed, so there is some shine.

My positioning of the stamp was almost spot on, so I am pleased with the result. I stamped and watercoloured the tulips with the same orange and green as on the background and added some darker green to give more depth. They were fussy cut and added to the card. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of vellum and heat embossed it. I didn't think the sentiment showed up very well so I outlined it with a fine liner pen. The vellum was wrapped around the card panel and edged with a piece of moss green twine. I added a bow just for a bit of extra interest.

I am very happy with the bright cheery nature of this card, I hope you are too.

Don't forget there is always a prize to be won. This month the prize has been kindly donated by Rare Earth. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out?

I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is follow the prompt and ensure stamping is the main focus on your card.  The challenge will close at noon on Wednesday the 30th March

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

Yesterday I had a day out at one of my favourite places, we drove to RHS Wisley and the sun shone all day. It truly is a very special place and is definitely one of my happy places. It is only March and yet it was a riot of colour with daffs, crocus, camellia, cherry blossom, hellebores and many other amazing plants doing their stuff in the sunshine. I have one picture to share, I need a new battery for my phone so was only able to take a few pictures before it gave out and for some reason, all the others were out of focus. Photography is not my strengths!

We Love Stamping March Challenge

Today is the first Sunday in March so time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping. The challenge where you can showcase your stamps and your skill at using them.

This month our theme is:

**  Anything Stamped with a Spring Theme **

I am really into my turnabout stamps at the moment and this lovely little wreath comes from the aptly named wreath turnabout set from Concord and 9th. I stamped it in spring colours for this challenge. We tend to think of wreaths for autumn or winter but I am not sure why so here we have a spring wreath.

The background panel was made very quickly with my 7x5 gelli plate. I used my Catherine Pooler mini ink pads direct to the plate and then added a stencil called pebbles by Spellbinders. The resulting print was lovely and soft which makes a good background. I mounted my circle on craft foam and inked the edges before attaching it to the card.

The sentiment is from the same set so it fits perfectly inside the wreath, it is stamped and clear heat embossed. The additional stamped elements are also pert of the same set.

Don't forget there is always a prize to be won. This month the prize has been kindly donated by Rare Earth. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out?

I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is follow the prompt and ensure stamping is the main focus on your card. I am also happy to say that there are some fabulous prizes prizes to be won. The challenge will close at noon on Wednesday the 30th March.

February CCC Reveal

Today is 2nd of the month so time for the Card Chain Challenge big reveal. This month 28 card makers took part and I sent my card to Lou in Australia. I am happy to say that it arrived on 28th - Phew...

This month I have used the sketch option, the heart theme and paint from the product options. I decided against using the colours.

I just love this little heart tree die from My Favourite Things and haven't really used it much, so I decided it was time to change that and thought it would fit well with the sketch.

I cut it from the centre of a white panel and then used a circle die to partially cut round the tree and a zig zag edge die to cut away half the panel. I found the background in my bag of backgrounds and thought it would work well here. It is a gelli print that I made using acrylic paint, a stencil and a magazine page. At the time I was trying to transfer the magazine page onto my print but it didn't work terribly well. Although if you look closely you can see some writing and the shadow of a face.

I cut the print with a stitched rectangle die and cut the white panel to size with the same die and layered it on top of the background. I would normally use foam tape to add some dimension but as my card was going to Australia I decided to keep it flat. It made it easier to inlay the die cuts too. I coloured the little hearts and tree trunk with alcohol markers and inlaid them back into the die cut. I added a few little gold jewels to add interest and added the die cut sentiment. Not a single stamped image was used in this one.

I made a stencil from copy paper and decorated the envelope and insert with it. A very straightforward  card to make, I was quite pleased with it, I hope you are too.

Unfortunately my card from Helen in Ohio has been delayed so I can't share it with you today.
