I hope you are all staying well and coping in these strange times. I am here with a reminder about our current challenge at CAS Stencil Challenge blog so I have some more inspiration (at least I hope that's what it is!). Cathy is our host this month and she wants us to use gilding flakes with our stencils.
My stencil this time is a mandala by Clarity Stamp and I have used the same gilding flakes and fine glitter as in by first post for this challenge, mainly because they are the only ones I own! However, instead of using double sided tape, I used some sticky backed vellum. I stuck the stencil down on the middle of a square piece and covered the exposed sticky bits with gilding flakes, making sure they were well stuck in the corners. After removing the stencil I pressed fine glitter into the spaces. I cut a square from my card front and fixed the vellum piece to the back. As the glitter is translucent this means that light will shine through the glittered area and give a really nice effect. Unfortunately I couldn't get that to show on a photo, so you will just have to believe me.
I do hope I have inspired you to take part in our current challenge, there is still plenty of time.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Gorgeous gilded cards with your mandala stencil, Hillary. What a great idea to use stick-backed vellum. I LOVE the look of the flakes paired with your micro glitter. Beautiful and elegant cards. xx
Wow, the shine is just awesome and your gilding flakes look so smooth and even. Lovely cards for this challenge.
Your mandala looks so pretty. The shine from the flakes looks amazing especialy with the touch of sparkle xx
These are gorgeous! Where does one find sticky backed vellum, please? I’ve never heard of it....
Thank you and be safe!
It is by Xcut, it is one of the Xtras range (15 A5 adhesive vellum sheets). I bought it at The Range, but they don't seem to have it anymore. I have been trying to get some more because I only have a few scraps left and I find it really useful xx
Wow Hilary what an amazing effect and yes there is tons of inspiration x.
This is just beautiful, Hilary! I really do need to dig out my gilding flakes & actually use them! Thanks for the inspiration!
