Hello
I saw some daffodils in flower on my walk this morning, so that has brought me some cheer on this grey day. I hope the launch of as new challenge over at CAS Mix Up Challenge will also bring you some cheer. The months go by quick don't they? Our February challenge is a stencil one and it is hosted by Nancy. She would like us to use heat embossing with our stencils.
Our guest designer this month is Arlene from Sunday Stamper Papercrafts, do click on the link and pay her a visit.
I did find that this left the edges looking a bit ragged so I filled in the gaps between the petals with the fine liner. This tidied it up and gave a more bold look. as it was important to keep this card CAS and I didn't want to cut the panel I mounted it on a 7x5 inch white cardbase, stamped a sentiment in black and matted my panel on some black paper.
I was actually quite pleased with how this worked. I think it is the first time I have used this technique and it is really rather effective, so thanks for this challenge Nancy. don't forget there are some links to some technique videos on the blog.
You have until 24th to join us. I hope to see you there.
Supplies:
Ink: Uni Pin Fine liner pen 0.3
Stencil: LJ927 Dreamweaver
Stamps: Sentiment stamp by Woodware
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Simply elegant. I keep forgetting that a stencil outline look so beautiful. Thanks for the reminder. LOVE your embossing. Perfect for this gorgeous card.
What a great idea. Never seen that before. Lovely embossing too!
Fabulous Hilary - a brilliant idea to outline the stencil for the definition before embossing just a small part - it really makes it jump off the front and I love it! x
Gorgeous card, Hilary! Great idea to use your embossing pen for the details on the bloom...Love how you outlined it with your fine liner pen, too!
I love the artsy look of adding color to just part of the image, Hilary! The triple embossing is so smooth and your outlines make the colors stand out beautifully!
Stunning card, sure love this design. xx
I Love how you kept your card design CAS by outlining your stencil image and then only heat embossing a few of your flowers. TFS the close up of your layered heat embossing, which is Stunning! Wonderful narrow framing and sweet sentiment too, my friend. We sure have fun learning new techniques on the CAS Mixed Media Challenge:-) Love and Hugs...Nancy
wow I bet that took some work doing the individual petals in the red and gold. Amazing card :)
Oooh, nice! I love how you've added the embossing to only part of the design. The raised surface and the pretty shine from the embossing really looks gorgeous!
The colored accents make it look very classy.
There's not much else to add that others haven't said before me... it's simply fabulous, Hilary! ditto thanks for reminding us how effective the outlines are!

Very attractive - beautifully created and made.

Wowie, this looks like an awesomely amazing and beautiful stamp with the way you outlined. Very rich embossing in gold and red. How gorgeous this is, Hilary!
Cool technique!
Love this creation. The fact that you used mostly black and white is stunning!
Your card is amazing, Hilary! I love how you've created this CAS design with a very busy image. Just colouring the flowers really draws the eye to them. Love red and gold. And wonderful idea to use three coats of the embossing powder, it gives so much dimension and makes the images ultra smooth and satiny looking! xx
This card is so effective and so striking I think it is wonderful. x
What a creative way to use that pretty stencil Hilary. Your card is unique and I love the way you have done the heat embossing three times. Such a striking card x.
What a wonderful technique used with this pretty stencil Hillary! So pretty with just a small bit colored! xx
Hi Hilary, Thanks so much for sending this beautiful card to me for my special Birthday, received it last Friday. The card is gorgeous with only some parts embossed and the outline for the rest of the stencil.
Awesome, I love that you embossed a focal point, very stunning. Something like spotlighting :D xx
This looks beautiful. I love the stencil design, and the pop of colour from the single flower looks really striking xx
