Celebrating Uniko

I have been struggling to produce cards in recent weeks, but yesterday I decided that I had to enter the Uniko 9th Birthday  linky and so I spent all yesterday afternoon making a card that should only have taken half the time. I don't seem to be capable of making decisions at the moment so I agonised over ever element!

Anyway I did end up with a card that I am happy with and I used Uniko products.

I have had this stamp set for a little while and so I am glad I have now used it. I stamped the tulips on water colour paper and coloured them with Zig clean colour real brush pens,  then put it back in my Misti and stamped in black and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder to give it a shine.

For the background I inked the stencil with Distress Ink and then blended orange to light yellow inks across the panel. It was cut with a scalloped die and mounted on craft foam. The sentiment, also from Uniko, was stamped and clear heat embossed and the tulips were fussy cut and mounted on top. I used foam pads under the flowers to add a bit of dimension.

Time Out #182 - 7th Birthday, congratulations to you

I am so glad that I have got this done before the deadline even if it is with just a few hours to go. I am also glad to see the end of February, I hope March brings better times. If nothing else I know it will bring spring which will definitely cheer me up, I hope it improves my productivity too.

Supplies:
cardstock: Adorable Scorable coated card for the base, Neena Classic Crest for the panel and cold pressed watercolour for the tulips
Ink: Distress Ink
Stamps: Uniko Spring Botanicals Tulip, Happy days
Dies: Create a smile Scalloped Rectangles
Stencil: Uniko Mid Century modern

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

It's hard to believe you are in a slump when you've created something this spectacular, Hilary! I have a feeling this is going to receive a lot of pinning, which is what I'm doing! I love the subtle stencil background and the warm glow of color you blended on top of that, the perfect matting, and then the brilliant job of coloring you did on the tulips! This is a winner in my book and I'm sure Bev was delighted that you were able to make the deadline! It's been a slumpy time for me, too, and I missed it. (sad face) Here's to March and springtime! Hugs, Darnell

Amazing work, Hilary! I LOVE your stenciled and sponged background. They compliment your gorgeous watercoloured tulips (love the mix of colours for those flowers!!). It doesn't look as though you struggled with any element, but I know what you mean and have had that happen to me. Lots of time invested, but look at the stunning result! xx

This is absolutely gorgeous Hilary! I don't see any signs of a card slump here! I so wish you would have entered this beauty over at Color Hues but sadly it ended yesterday! It would have been perfect!! I am thrilled to see it in our gallery at Seize the Birthday! It is a true beauty! You have such an eye for design! Please come by CH and show us what you can do there as well! Thanks for playing along and take care!

I love how you've colored the tulips, and I love the background you've created for them - love the look of ombre with some pattern emerging in a subtle way. Its really a beautiful card! Your efforts don't go un-noticed. For me the orange fun foam on the orange cs make the piece sing. Along with the brilliant coloring and use of stencil.

The photo does not capture the true richness of the tulip colors nor the lovely tactile feel of the thick embossing. This is truly a card to treasure and I will, for all days.
