It's the 15th already so time for a reminder over at CAS Mix Up Challenge. It is a stencil month this time and Susan is our host. She wants us to use rainbow ink blending on our cards. Do also take the time to visit our guest designer this month. Michele's cards are just stunning.
Today I have 3 cards for the price of one, aren't you lucky? My third card is the one I made first, but I decided to make another as my stencil wasn't really a good choice, and then one became two as my stencilled and inked panel needed to be split to make a CAS card.
I took an A6 piece of Bristol board and some stone blue ink and inked up my stencil. Then I used a knife to cut a wavy edge on a piece of copy paper and proceeded to ink lines across the stencil. I got a bit carried away with this and did far too many lines. I think I was in danger of making a muddy mess!
But, in the end I quite liked it and decided to cut it in two. I took up the stencil again and masked it to just show the dandelion that I inked directly onto the card base. I then glued my panel down matching it to the dandelion head. I didn't quite get my inking on the card in the right place so in order to match it and not have a strip of white showing underneath I inked a strip of white card with the stone blue and stuck it along the bottom. I didn't want to encroach any more into my white space so I stamped the sentiment on the panel. I had intended to clear emboss the sentiment but I forgot and had removed the stamp from my misti before I remembered! I finished off with a few flower gems to add extra interest.
Then I had the other piece of my panel left, so I turned it 90degrees and mounted it on some blue paper. I quite liked the rainbow stripes being horizontal in this one. I think it looks like a landscape behind (well, a bit anyway).
The sentiment was stamped in stone blue ink and die cut. Again I thought it needed a little something extra so added some sequins.
I used a stencil and it's mask for the happy. First I drew round the stencil and then I used it's mask while I blended the rainbow colours across it using strips of post it tape and distress ink to create my rainbow stripes.
I used a debossing coverplate on my green layer to add interest and used rainbow colours to mat both the panels.
I finished off with a few shiny sequins. I hope you like it.
I am loving all the rainbows in the gallery this month. You have until the 24th to join us, just don't forget to make it CAS.

My Hilary, you have been busy!
3 lovely makes! x
I'm sitting here admiring your brilliant use of simple paper and ink. These backgrounds are so unique and pretty.
Three awesome cards, Hilary! I love how the first two look so different by just turning the design! The second makes me think of the wind blowing! Your third card definitely makes me think of a rainbow with it's brilliant colors! A great threefer, my friend!
Wow, no muddy mess here! It's just a different look for the technique and very cool! I love the layering and the little gems. So cute! You really did give us a bonus with yet a third card in all those lovely rainbow colors. "Happy" is exactly what this birthday card is!
Two beautiful CAS rainbow designs and one less CAS rainbow design. So pleased you added your 1st card to CAS Mix Up Rainbow colors Challenge and your 2nd card to STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge. Your 3rd card a bonus gift to us all:-) TFS Hilary. Love and Hugs...Nancy
Some lovely backgrounds Hilary, I find the ones with the wavy lines draw you into the card. See you use Bristol Vellum as well, one of my favourites cards as it takes most things you throw at it.

Wow, Hilary. i like the first two cards, but the one you've made first is also very very nice!!
Enjoy the weekend...
No matter which orientation I look at, I love your beautifully stenciled panel. Hilary, in the first, I imagine rows and rows of a planted field - and then in the second I see hills, and valleys! Both just fabulous!

Three great cards! Thank you for joining us at Happy Little Stampers Stencil Challenge.
Beautiful set of rainbow blend cards Hilary! Great work with making your own stencil to create the waves of colours for your first three cards. So very pretty with the stamped leaves and dandilion image. It's interesting how just rotating the rainbow piece 90 degrees makes such a difference!! Your striped rainbow cards are so bright and fun. Definitely happy, just like the sentiment says! :) xx
What a lovely trio, Hilary. The blendiing is beautiful.
These are nice! I love how you've used blue ink - I rarely think outside of black/brown/grey. Blue is a fantastic idea! And love how it clicks with the rainbow too! And I love the wavy rainbow.. you're right, it does look like a landscape - a dreamy one!! :)
This is another very interesting technique and I would like to try it out, but unfortunately I won't have the time this time. I enjoy your beautiful cards!!
What a fabulous collection!! I just LOVE the stenciling... Beautiful cards!
What lovely colors, Hilary, and you did such an amazing job with the masking, stenciling, and blending! All of them are sensational in my book, but of course, #2 is my very favorite as it sits here so pretty on my desk! Thank you so very much for the unexpected Happy Mail and your kind words!! Hugs, Darnell
Great to make the two cards from the one background. Great use of the stencils on all three cards and I love your use of colour Hilary x.
Love your choice of rainbow colours Hilary and the stencil was the perfect choice for the first two cards with the striped blended background. The dandelion is perfect with the sequins as the focal point.
Pretty rainbow ink blending. Thanks for playing at AAA Birthday, hope to see you join in with future challenges too. Stay safe and keep crafting!
Amazing how that panel made 2 cards that look so different! Fun rainbow cards!
Love all your cards here, beautiful designs! Thanks so much for celebrating with us at AAA Birthday!
Looks like you had fun with this months challenge Hilary. Three fabulous rainbow cards xx
Great use of stenciling on your cards! Thanks for joining in at HLS Stencil Challenge
You've been busy and creative! I'm loving all your cards - great job! I'm super impressed with the "happy" card. You must be very patient to ink all those separate stripes. The final effect is certainly worth all your effort. Thanks for joining us at STAMPlorations CAS.
