I love the sky and when I saw that the code word at Addicted to CAS #196 was sky I knew I had to take part.
So I got out my watercolours and followed a process that I learnt from Sharone Stevens on skillshare to produce this lovely soft pink sky. Sharone is a really good teacher, her lessons are very calm, clear and easy to follow and I have been encouraged by my results from following along with her classes.
I used my gansai tambi watercolours and a size 6 brush with a wet on wet technique. The card base is hot pressed watercolour paper and I used masking tape to create my strip of sky.
I wanted to keep the design very minimal so I chose the sentiment stamp to reflect the expanse of sky and decided to just add a few birds. I really should have watercoloured them as well, but I decided not to tempt fate as I was sure I would mess it up and I thought this little flock of birds in the distance was perfect. I used grey ink so that it didn't detract too much from the soft pink sky or overwhelm it, which I thought black might do.
I live in the county of Suffolk which is well known in the UK for it's big skies. Here are a few pictures taken on my morning walks.
This one was taken at sunrise in December
The following 2 were taken on 1st May '21
I feel very privileged to live in such a beautiful place and to be able to visit this river every morning. It is about a 20 minute walk from my home. I do love the early mornings, I will almost always be out walking.
I am also sharing this at Perfect CAS #14 - wings. I hope my little flock of birds will qualify.
I hope you like my sky, it was very easy to do. Mind you I did do it 3 times before I got the look that I wanted!
Supplies:
cardstock: Hot pressed watercolour parer
Ink: Gansai Tambi watercolour 036 Rose Madder Deep and 020 Black
Stamps: Free from different editions of Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Hi Hilary,
you wrote: it was easy to make. But you still wasn't satisfied about the result the first and second time? I love the sky om your card. But the sky at your place is wonderful. So nice to read you are a 'morningwalker' too!
Especially in the summer, but when it's winter I walk at 7.00-7.30 a.m. Love it!
What a beautiful sky both on the card and in your neighborhood! Wow!
amazing pink sky Hillary and yes the UK is beautiful. Vancouver has it's beauty but I do miss Swansea and the Gower coast with it's big beaches ♥
All your effort was definitely worth it, Hilary - the sky looks just beautiful! Love those soft tones of pink and purple! Hope to see more and more lovely watercolors like this from you! :)

Beautiful card Hilary with such a soft and pretty sky. Yes you do live in a lovely part of the UK... Fabulous photos and somewhere I would love to walk!
Your sky is so pretty, wispy and gentle and I love the play on the sentiment against it. A beautiful card Hilary x. WOW to your 'real' sky photos too Hilary x.
Absolutely lovely. The pictures too! [Bunny]
Same here with the early mornings Hilary, in the days I was able to still swing a golf club I loved a round that time of day, same with a hack out on one of the boys.
It's amazing how stylish a card can be with a single sentiment and bird stamp, wonderfully executed.

LOVE your beautiful sky card Hilary! AMAZING technique! I love that you've added just a few small stamps to complete your card ... the sky is the STAR! You live in a beautiful place, Hilary. LOVE the photos from your morning walks. xx
Your water-colored pink sky is gorgeous, Hilary! With such a gorgeous sky to inspire you, I'm not one bit surprised!
My husband would want to know if your big skies are dark, not light-polluted as they are in our area? Please say yes, I'd love to give him one more reason to join me when I come back to the UK!

Beautifully created, Hillary. And your morning photos are lovely too.
Re my blog design, it's been like this for a while now, just went to white background as the black was too harsh, that's all.x
