Today is the 18th so time for a reminder about the current challenge over at We Love Stamping. The challenge where you can showcase your stamps and your skill at using them.
This month our theme is:
** Anything stamping goes with the option to add some stencilling **
I have actually used the same stamp as I did for my first card for this months challenge, which you can find here, if you are interested. I wanted to use this lovely stencil and found that in order to fit it well to the page I needed to go large from my normal A6 sized card. So this card is 7x5 which is really large for me!
I started by smooching my background with distress inks, then I inked my stencil again using DIs and blending brushes. I tried to keep the green of the leaves away from the hands and vice versa. I partially succeeded but decided it didn't really matter.
The tulip and foliage was stamped in versafine onyx black and then clear heat embossed, as was the sentiment, but I used vellum because I didn't want to detract too much from the wonderful stencil tree. To finish I trimmed my panel and mounted it on black to give it a frame.
Don't forget there is always a prize to be won. This month the prize has been kindly donated by Lavinia Stamps. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out?
I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is follow the prompt and ensure stamping is the main focus on your card. I am also happy to say that there are some fabulous prizes prizes to be won. The challenge will close at noon on Wednesday the 2nd March
I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

How lovely and also different the stamp looks on todays card Hilary, it's hadn't occurred to me it was the same one.
Hope you don't get too battered down your way today, we've just been upgraded to red, hopefully it's a just in case.

I love the perspective you've achieved on this card. the stencil and stamps go so well together.
The stamped image looks so very different in both your cards! I love this one as well, nice use of the silhouettes. I love your theme as well as how you've depicted it in your card. Lovely.
What a striking stencil and what a fabulous and creative way you've coloured and used it Hilary x. Your card is so very eye catching x. The link to your other card isn't working but I know exactly what card it was and I loved that one too Hilary x.
Beautiful! I love that tree of hands stencil. Great colors in the background. Thanks for sharing at 613 Avenue Create.

A fabulous sentiment, so true, and a fantastic stencil with the hands that seem a tree (or viceversa) Love so much the idea behind your card! The tulip and foliage give dimension to the whole scene!

That is a wonderful stencil it is so expressive and beautifully done here. The silhouette flowers in front just set it all off wonderfully. xx
Gorgeous card and especially love the sentiment, so true;-))m
It's a wonderful card. The tree is beautifully.
I must take a look on my stencils. Sometimes I 'forget' what stuff I have. Great reminder of that! Thanks..
What a wonderful stencil, Hilary! I love the colors you've used and the smooshed background that gives this such a sunny look!
Your tree trunk hands are perfect for our challenge!! Fantastic stencil work!! Thanks for playing along with our "you deserve a hand" challenge over at SOS!!
Hilary, I'm looking at all the layers of ink, stamping, stenciling and thinking what an artful scene this is. It's interesting how the tree branches do look like hands and so it fits that particular challenge beautifully. Love how you've used the same stamp as before but made it look so different. Also, I think your inking of the stencil is beautifully shaded with the bit of brown showing on some of the leaves closest to the branches. You made this 5x7 card look amazing!
Beautiful card Hilary! LOVE your wonderful stenciled background and your gorgeous silhouette stamping. The sentiment is so meaningful. xx
Super stenciling, and we can all be reminded of whats important with that sentiment.
Wow!!! A beautifully designed card with great symbolism!!!
Wow, that hand stencil is so cool ... so very glad you joined us at Shopping Our Stash.
Deeply beautiful card. As someone who has been passionate about genealogy since childhood, I was instantly struck by how wonderful this design would be in a genealogical context or for an elderly head of the family.
