Today is the first Sunday of the month so time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping. Where we love to see you showcase your stamping. This is the first of two posts today as it is the card chain challenge reveal today too.
Faith has chosen our theme this month:
**CAS**
OR
**Anything Goes**
I do love CAS cards, but I don't feel as though I have been making many these days, so I did enjoy making this one. I have always liked the look of a blended panel with simple stamping over it, so I decided it was high time for me to give the technique another go.
I chose a smooth white card to blend my Catherine Pooler inks onto. I used 'orange peel' and 'apricot' to get the ombre look. I stamped the flower stem in CP midnight black ink (Altenew wildflower garden) and stamped the flowers in CP flame. I decided to add interest by die cutting the edge (Heffy Doodle edge dies) and then mounted the panel onto a coloured card base (Hunkydory adorable scorable mattastic). The sentiment is from Alex Syberia expressing gratitude stamp set. I stamped the same flower on the insert and envelope for a coordiated look. I do love it when everything matches.
You will definitely want to enter this month as there are prizes of stamps and stencil from Lavinia. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out? The prize winner is selected randomly and in addition the DT will choose a top three for special mention.
I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is ensure stamping (including digi) is seen somewhere on your card front, it no longer needs to be the main focus. Please also mention the products used. It would be great if you could join in with our theme, but anything goes is always an option if you are out of ideas. The challenge will close at noon (UK time) on Wednesday 26th February.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.
Of course I didn't just make one. Here is the second card I made using this technique. I don't think it worked quite as well as the first one and it was more complicated because I had to mask the flower. I have used CP inks 'with an olive' and 'lemongrass' and the flower is from Altenew's pen sketched flowers stamp set.
I used drawing gum to mask the flower, simply because I saw it on my shelf and thought it would be quicker than fussy cutting a mask. It worked pretty well, but there was a tiny bit of ink on one of the flowers so I decided to get a yellow zig watercolour pen and add a little here and there on the flowers - it kind of worked. This time I mounted the panel on a yellow coated card base. I did use a few tiny gems on both cards.
What do you think? I would love to know which you prefer.
I am also sharing the first card at:

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

2 beautiful cards, its amazing how different the same technique looks by changing the colours and stamp
Really beautiful CAS cards, I love both designs!!!
It's a really pleasing design Hilary and looks pretty in both colourways, if I had to choose it would probably be the second, the fresh yellows remind me Spring's not too far away.

These are both beautiful Hilary and look so different with the same technique. I love how the red flowers pop on the first card, and the second one looks really elegant and serene with the white flower - great job with the masking xx
Two beautiful cards, Hilary. My favourite is the first one, I love the colour combination.
Liz xx
Two beautiful creations Hilary you manage to do the CAS style perfectly I tend to struggle I could not choose between them they are both super

Oh Hilary...you busy bee...what lovely cards. So classy and my favourite is the last one...I love the shades of yellow, your clever addition of a touch of yellow to the flower and maybe it says easter to me too! xx
Hilary, I couldn't choose a favorite - they are BOTH so beautiful! CP inks are my favorite to blend 'with an olive' hasn't made it to my stash YET! I have never used drawing gum - does this mean you stamped, then covered the image with the gum? Amazing!
=]
Two really gorgeous creations, I love them both and it is a great technique.

Both of your masked cards look amazing, Hilary!! Love the pop of red on card one and the sunny yellow of card two!!

Beautiful CAS Cards Hilary, I love your designs and the flowers, my favourite is the second one, the effect is brilliant.

Both cards are beautiful Hilary - I love the ombre orange background in the first, and the touches of lemon in the flower on the second (yes I know it was a 'fix', but it looks intentional).
Blessings

Two amazing and beautiful cards Hilary, I love the design and the fact you also decorated the envelopes. I love the colours you used on both too. Wonderful work. x
Both floral cards are delightful. I like the strip behind the floral image in both cases. xxx
Oh wow Hilary what a gorgeous layout and such beautiful colours you have used. These cards will make the recipient feel very happy and loved!
Two great cards, lovely colours. Anesha
Both your cards are so beautiful Hilary!! The first one is so pretty with those bright red flowers extending past the sponged strip. The second one is so modern with the image mostly uncoloured. I'm the same ... I LOVE making CAS cards, but don't do it enough these days. I did make one for today, and I'm sharing with We Love Stamping. I finally added this challenge to my list and hope to play along more often. :) xx
I love the simple design of your cards, and I love both the versions. The red looks so gorgeous on that shade of yellow and the masking worked great for the second one. I rarely like striped background like this, but I liked the look of it in these (at least the background does look striped!). Very sweet cards, indeed!
I thought the first one was amazing and then I scrolled down and I love that one also. Fantastic designs.
OMGoodness, I do love both cards! The colors, designs, stamps are gorgeous! Simplicity is a blessing. I run the gamut, but I will say that after making some of the more complex cards it feels so good to tone it down. Your cards are inspiring samples in that they have all the style and interest one could hope for. I have to say the first is my favorite just for the warmth and color, but you know how I love yellow, and those flowers are so pretty!
Oh I do love the look of CAS cards and stamping over an ink blended area is one of my favorite designs! Both cards are beautiful and the addition of a bit of yellow on the 2nd one looks totally planned! The first is my favorite, but both are so well done!
I love red and yellow together and this red flowers and the ombre yellow makes me love this combo even more! I love the yellow strip with the open flowers too! A great save!
Beautiful cards, Hilary! What a lovely way to use this technique, Jo x
Hi Hilary
I too love both versions .. .. .. but if you "made me choose" I would put the first card in first place because I love the scalloped edge and the bright orange tones.
Hope you are having a good week.
Love and hugs
Jules xoxo
I'm finally getting a chance to do some visiting and I'm so glad I saw this post, Hilary, because I love both your CAS floral designs and the colors and edges you used! That yellow in particular is sensational and your "enhancement" really adds to the design! Hugs, Darnell
Love the yellow and white striped card.
