Tea Cups

Hello,
Today I have made 2 cards for the Twofer #7 that I think are unlike any cards I have made before.  I like this challenge as it makes me think differently, but it does take me a long time to come up with something, the prompt word this month is beverage. Luckily I have had time this week and it has been too hot here to do much anyway.

Here are my cards:

The teacup die I have used was free with simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine and I haven't used it before. Here is a closer look at my first card:

I wanted to use the letters T and U to put over my message and was going to use them for the text around the card but in the end I just used them on the background which was created using distress oxide ink. I then randomly stamped T's, U's and hearts in VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. the teacups are cut out of patterned paper, I reversed the die for the middle one. The word frame was designed and printed using my Scan n Cut machine.
Here is a closer look at the background and teacups:

I have been keen to start using fabric on my cards again as I have quite a large stash of fabrics which haven't been used for a while. I particularly like Liberty Print Tana Lawn and have a big pile of little offcuts, which are brilliant for cards. When I saw Less is More #375 olive and tangerine, I knew what colours to use. The teacups are cut from Liberty print fabric and the background is watercolour paint spritzed with cosmic shimmer mist. The sentiment is a quote from the mad hatter in Alice in Wonderland, I shall use this card as an invitation to tea.
Here it is:

Here is a close up:

I am very tempted to put some enamel dots in the white space but I am resisting that urge!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it and would love to hear what you think about my cards.
Thank you
Hilary

Wow, so much to love, HilaryJane! Your T and U card is filled with layers of interest and creativity! I love that you embossed those letters in the cool background to link to the border text and the patterns are so pretty! And you used fabric on your second card! That is sensational! It's a lovely invitation design!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #7! Hugs, Darnell

I love both the cards! The designs are great on both - and I really like how you did the text around the first one. I'm the same, it takes me some time normally to come up with an idea - so its always great when they work out well xx
