CAS MixUp Reminder

It's time for a reminder for this months challenge over at CAS Mix Up where our host is Bonnie and the theme is off the edge. It is a watercolour month so do make sure that watercolours have prominence on your card.

I have two cards to share today.

I started by taking some watercolour paper and doing a light yellow wash. Once that was dry I spritzed with some Altenew warm sunshine metallic shimmer ink spray. I do struggle to spray this evenly but decided that it doesn't really matter. The flower stamps are by Clarity Stamp, I painted them with my Gansai Tambi watercolours and coloured the centres with a gelli roll sparkle pen. I finished it off with a bold sentiment heat embossed in a chocolate pearl embossing powder.

I used the rest of the watercoloured panel for my second card but this time I painted the leaf type shapes down the edge of the card  and then added the die cut leaf (inlaid into a circle of card) to the corner.  The sentiment (by Altenew) is heat embossed in gold.

I used the die cut as a stencil to decorate the envelope and the insert.

You know what it is like when you make some cards but don't really like them much, well that's how I feel about these. Kind of meh....
That's just the way it goes sometimes.

Anyway I hope that doesn't stop you from having a go, I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.
xx

Thank you for the comment on my grandaughters cards but would like to clarify as far as crafting with Ellie goes-she picks the images and the colourings to match her friends hair and such then leaves everything else to me lol -would be a different matter with Holly she loves to craft

What super backgrounds Hilary, I'm always up for a bit of sparkle and think I might need to be checking out Altenew sprays. I've used Glimmer Mists for absolutely years and still have some of the original ones I had for demoing way back, but they do have a tendency to block.

But back to your cards and both designs a lovely, possible I am drawn slightly more to the second but only because I have a thing about leaves.

I love the look of the spray - it actually looks great without the even spraying. And I love the border design layout of both the cards and the borders themselves are so cool!! I actually thought that you had stamped the pattern on the second one - its actually a new way of watercoloring those leaves in. I loved these cards!

Fabulous fall colors and the texture the spray adds is delightful.

We are all our own harshest critics I think Hilary! These are lovely and I love the spray which I think wouldn't be half as interesting in an even coat. Love the autumnal colours too! Vicky x

Your have created two masterpieces, Hilary. You are too hard on yourself. I LOVE the warm Autumn colours. The sparkly gold wash is so pretty and the bold colours you've used to paint your off-the-edge flowers are gorgeous. The second card is awesome with your hand-painted border --- LOVE IT! So pretty with the maple leaf die. Great work as always, Hilary! xx
