Hello and welcome, time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up. This month it is a watercolour challenge, our host is Bonnie and she wants use to do printmaking with die cuts. Our guest designer this month is Ros so be sure to pay her a visit and see her wonderful cards. But that is not all this month, it is also the challenges 5th Birthday and there are prizes.
The die cut fern was inked with a couple of green distress inks, spritzed and then stamped on the background watercolour paper. This created a background 'print' which I then framed and after stacking and spritzing my fern with some cosmic shimmer I attached it to the frame. The frame is painted with watercolour brush pens.

I have got another card to show you using this technique but I made the one above because I don't think this one is very CAS and therefore it is not suitable for our CAS challenge. I also used a stencil and blended ink on the background.

cardstock: Cardbase - adorable scorable matt-tastic, watercolour paper
Ink: Distress and Zig clean colour real brush watercolour pens

WOW! Came for one and was regaled with two perfect examples of this technique. Your struggles don't show up on your cards, at all. They both look outstanding to me and say, Spring is on the way, to me.

Both of these cards are awesome, Hilary! It looks to me like you've mastered the technique! I love the fern that makes such a beautiful framed botanical print! The yellow flowers are so cheerful and a good reminder of Spring as well as a Winter pick me up! Love that background too!

Love the look of these cards! I am not sure if I am really clear with the difference between print making and stamping, but I think I get a subtle hint by looking at them! I think I would love to try this technique as well. Your leaves are looking really pretty, and along with them, the flowers remind me of the beginning of spring! I would love to have a roomfull of them for decoration, if I could!

Oh my gosh ... you sure have embraced this fun technique Hilary. I LOVE your fern card. It's so organic with the different shades of green. Then another WOW! with your second card. The print is just gorgeous behind your flowers and foliage. It adds so much depth and dimension to your card. Two amazing cards, my friend!! xx
These are both really lovely Hilary, always like anything with leaves and the first really appeals. But the second with the hints of yellow top it I think, it's the promise of Spring it offers.

At first I didn't even know what to do with the technique, but I watched the video and now I feel like trying it too. You sent me a similar card once, it is still on my shelf because it is, like this one, beautiful!! And the second card also looks so great, I'm thrilled.

Your framed fern has so much depth and I really like the ink blending and stencilled background of the second - it makes the flower sprig pop. x

Oh, my word! I think there is more than one way to do print making with die cuts, and all of them are fun. Yes, there is a fine line between print making and stamping with die cuts. Your fern is beautiful in both the background and as the main player. Loving the cosmic shimmer. And then there's your second (surprise) card! Another gorgeous die, beautiful colors, and delicate background. I couldn't pick a favorite!

Love the combination of greens of the first card and the prints you achieved Hilary but the second card is the standout for me, just gorgeous!
