Patchwork Squares

Today I have a card that I have made for this weeks Inspired By Challenge #IB166. I saw the photo and immediately recognised some of the fabric on that gorgeous patchwork bedspread. I have quite a large collection of fabric scraps and loads of Liberty Print Tana Lawn. I really enjoy using it on cards but haven't actually done so for a long long time, so here was my chance to change that.

If you look at the bottom left of the picture, the second fabric in from the left on the bottom row is the one I have used. As I have it in 2 colour-ways I  have used them both for my patchwork. I have just realised that my card also matches the sketch this week.

After ironing on some bondaweb to the back of my fabric I cut it with a small square die, carefully arranging it on a piece of card before ironing it onto the card. Then I used thin red ribbon to create the grid. The panel was then cut with a stitched die and mounted onto another piece of card. I coloured the edges red as I wanted it to match the ribbon and I didn't have any card that was the right colour. The match isn't perfect but it will do.

The bunny is a digi stamp (I can't remember where I got it) that I printed, coloured and fussy cut. My colouring is terrible so I am not showing you a close up today! I did it quite quickly while it was dark and didn't really look at it properly before I added it to the card, otherwise I might have tried to improve it! I cut a tiny oval from green spotty paper for him to stand on. I decided not to add a sentiment as I didn't want to detract from the lovely fabric, but it is an Easter card that I will be sending to one of my grandchildren.  Apart from my colouring I am quite pleased with this one and think I must try to use my fabric more often.

Instead of the card close-up I am sharing another photo from my Camelia, you can see how many petals it has and how it fades to white as it ages. It still has lots of buds but it has been a bit cold so some of the flowers outer petals have gone brown. None of the buds have fallen though, so I am still hopeful of a good display as long as it warms up a bit.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Card base - Adorable Scorable Mattastic
Dies: Waffle Flower nested squares and ovals; Claina Palmer - A6 stitched nested dies

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Lovely Easter card. The fabric is great. I love the picture of your camellia. The weather will soon be too hot here in Florida. [Bunny]

Beautiful Camelia as well! Lovely garden it must be, with these lovely Camelia there!

Something very different Hilary and such effective use of the Liberty fabric which I recognise from our youngest son's partners collection. She does patchwork and likes small patterns as she invariably cuts and works with tiny octagons.

This is another special idea, taking up the patchwork and processing it into a card.

Hilary you weren't kidding about that fabric matching our IB prompt!! Just love that you had both colors and used them on your card - your darling bunny seems right at home here, and look! even his little flower matches those in your fabric!
Well done, Hilary - thanks so much for 'sewing' a card for IB this week!
