We Love Stamping January Challenge

Here we are at the first Sunday of January 2022 so time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping. The challenge where you can showcase your stamps and your skill at using them.

This month our theme is:

** Anything Stamping Goes with the option of Wings **

This stamp was a lovely Christmas gift so I wanted to use it as soon as possible, I find that's the best way with new things. Don't be tempted to put it aside as you never know when it might surface again! I stamped it in versafine and then masked the dragonfly and the flowers. Then I used distress ink in various colours to create my background. I also used a stencil on the blue edges to create some interest. Once I was happy with the background I coloured the leaves and flowers with my Polychromos pencils.

I couldn't decide whether or not to colour the dragonfly, in the end I decided not, but I re stamped the image and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it a nice shine. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

You can just about see the shine on the close up photo.

Don't forget there is always a prize to be won. This month the prize is a stamp set by ALL & CREATE which has been kindly donated by Stampers Grove. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out along with much more inspiration from the rest of the design team? There is also a chance to join us as a guest designer.

I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is follow the prompt and ensure stamping is the main focus on your card.  The challenge will close on the 3rd February at noon.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery and all the wonderful artwork that we are all going to enjoy during 2022.

I am also sharing this at:

Leaving the dragonfly uncoloured works really well Hilary as it really draws the eye in. You are so right about using things quickly, I received some new stamps (early Christmas gift!!) a few weeks back and only got their first inking this last week despite all good intentions.

Great effect leaving the dragonfly uncolored, your card is still plenty colorful. I also love how you did the envelope, I’ve never done that, but I think it’s a quick and easy lovely detail.

If you know me at all, you'll know that Dragonflies are my second favorite winged insect - oh he is a handsome one!
The colors you've chosen for ink blending are fabulous as is the use of that stencil.
A beautiful start to a New Year full of new goodies!

Oh, my goodness, this is so beautiful! I do have this stamp and have used it once, but you make me want to pull it out again. Actually I have several new Creative Expressions stamps along this line which I am eager to use. You're so right about how it's better to use new things right away. Wish I'd heeded that advice long ago, ha! I love your stenciled and blended background and the embossing. Your pencil coloring is very nice, too. Lovely inspiration!

This is a "WOW" card Hilary! LOVE the beautiful sponged and stenciled background. Blue and yellow are so amazing together. And what a fabulous stamp. I LOVE the colouring of the daffodils. They are blended so perfectly, you are a master with your pencils! I think it was the right decision to leave the dragonfly uncoloured. It really draws the eye when you look at your card. xx

What an exquisitely beautiful design, dear Hilary.

The colours are warm, inviting and uplifting, the dragonfly (one of my favourite creatures of all time) is endlessly lovely, and the whole design telegraphs a wonderful + very welcome sense of spring's return.

Absolutely fantastic work, my friend!
