We Love Stamping April Challenge

Today is the first Sunday of the month, so time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping where you get the opportunity to show off your love of stamping.  This month the theme is:

**  Stamp of the Moment  **

My stamp was heat embossed with a pale blue embossing powder and then coloured with Polychromos pencils, before cutting with the coordinating die and mounting on a dark cardbase. Because there were some islands of white space that the die didn't cut, I coloured them with a black pencil in the hope that it would look better on the black cardbase. It kind of worked, but perhaps I should have been braver and tried to cut them out with a sharp blade.

I mounted the image on foam pads, added the sentiment on a white strip and finished it off with some bubble gems.

Don't forget there is always a prize to be won and this month the prize is a Santoro album and images with coordinating die set from Craft Stash. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out? The prize winner is selected randomly and in addition the DT will choose one entry to join us as a guest designer for a future challenge.

I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is follow the prompt and ensure stamping is the main focus on your card. The challenge will close at noon on Wednesday the 27th April.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

I am also sharing this at:

Wow, your card is stunning!!! And to paint the white spots black was worth it, it's barely visible.

I love that you chose blue for the outlines - so original and so refreshing. And I love your idea of filling in the extra spaces black - I completely approve of this, since I don't have anything sharp with me to neatly cut out small spaces like that .. more like, I need to remember to do this! ;) And your pencil coloring is lovely, Hilary! Absolute stunner of a card!

Beautiful card and love the stamp embossed in pale blue-the spaces look fine coloured in black -if I tried to cut those small pieces out it would have ended up in the bin!

It seems that you and me opted both for a black background :) Love the idea of filling the white spaces with a black pencil, it works great, as If you hadn’t told it, I wouldn’t have noticed! I too feel afraid to use a sharp blade in little spaces. Love the sweet colours and your fabulous colouring!
Hugs, have a lovely Sunday!

The pale blue embossing is very effective, it gives a bit more dimension than white yet retains that delicate look. And all very striking onto the black background.

I enjoy fussy cutting and admit that I would have probably cut out the whole thing including the "void" areas. That said if you had not drawn our attention to it I would not have noticed as the infill works so well. Yours is a delightful card Hilary. xx

I actually didn’t notice those areas of black were colored and not cut, so I think you can do whatever suits you. A first I didn’t think it was a stamped image, the blue lines is probably the source of confusion, but I do think that is a great idea, it makes the image a bit different.

Beautifully coloured flowers, an love the light blue embossing. Very clever using a black pencil for the areas between the flowers :)

Beautifully colored, cut and dramatically staged on that black card. Fabulous.

This is a stunning make. I never noticed the black colouring until I read about it. I actually thinks it looks better, as you get a more cohesive look without the holes.

Hilary, your card is wonderful - it never would have crossed my mind to color those spaces black, but it worked a charm with your black card base!
Well done you!

Oooh, pretty flowers that really pop on the black base! Dies that don't cut the inner parts are a pet peeve, but you have a good solution. I love how the flowers are tucked around your sentiment strip.

Resplendently beautiful card! Using blue embossing powder for the floral image is an inspiring idea and one that worked superbly here.

Likewise for your very clever approach regarding colouring those little areas between the blooms in with black ink. That is a lightbulb moment all the way!

Wow--so beautiful, Hilary! I would never have thought to color the white areas like that & I think it worked great! Also never emboss outlines with my colored ep, but now I want to do that!
