Today is the first Sunday of the month so time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping.
Each month a member of the design team will be selecting a theme to reflect their own individual style of crafting or favourite themes. On the remaining months we will continue as before with a general theme along with an anything goes option, as previously.
Our theme this month is:
**Christmas**
OR
Anything Goes
I have to admit that Christmas is not my favourite time of year and making Christmas cards is not my favourite pastime either, but it comes round every year and every year I manage to do my bit and make my cards. I just moan about it a lot!
When I went to the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in August this year I managed to resist buying fabric, but Colourcraft (they make Brusho paint) had a stall there and they were selling a few stamps, which I liked the look of, so I bought a few. The little Christmas tree and the concentric circle were among them.
I had made a few alcohol ink panels recently and decided to use them for backgrounds on these cards. That is what determined my non traditional colours. I have had a pad of alcohol lift ink in my stash for ages (probably more than 2 years) and hadn't used it so I decided to try it with my circle stamp and was quite pleased with the look. The sweet little patchwork tree was stamped and heat embossed in white onto Hunky Dory adorable scorable coated card and then fussy cut. I used the same card to make the scalloped matt and then mounted the panel onto a paler cardbase (also adorable scorable). The sentiment, by Uniko, was stamped and heat embossed.
Of course, I made a few more while I was at it.
Don't forget there is always a prize to be won and This month there are three prizes of Sweet Dixie Christmas die sets from Aldridge Crafts. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out? The prize winner is selected randomly and in addition the DT will choose a top three for special mention.
I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is ensure stamping (including digi) is seen somewhere on your card front, it no longer needs to be the main focus. Please also mention the products used. It would be great if you could join in with our theme, but anythings goes is always an option if you are out of ideas. The challenge will close at noon (UK time) on Wednesday 4th December.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

A very unusual choice of colours for Christmas cards, but that's what I love about them. They all look great.
Love this patchwork tree stamp Hilary, and the beautiful selection of designs you have made with it xx
That tree stamp is a beauty Hilary and so effective placed over the panels, love your alternative seasonal colour choice as well.

One sure wouldn't know you didn't enjoy this session, Hilary. I do love a non-traditional color palette at Christmas!

Fabulous backgrounds; I do have some days only making backgrounds for coming projects. Great colours and lovely Cmas tree cards;-))m
What a wonderful array of designs to showcase that fun Christmas tree, Hilary! I can see why you were drawn to it, as well as to the fun concentric circle background! Each of your cards is beautiful in various jewel tones! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
All fabulous cards, love the beautiful stamps, great inky backgrounds and non-traditional colours.

Your little patchwork tree is adorable, Hilary! The circle stamp looks right at home with it. I like how you used it on the various cards. I like making Christmas cards, but everything put together this time of year gets to be a bit much. If only it could spread out or slow down!
Lovely card, Hilary! And very smart to make some more, while you were busy. I hope to join you again!
Sweet patchwork tree, I love all the non traditional colours in AI's♥
Hilary this wee tree is adorable, and you have used it most cleverly with the AI panel and the circle stamp. All your cards look gorgeous.
Blessings

Very unique Christmas cards, and I love them! The patched Christmas tree looks cute. Gorgeous cards, Hilary!
Lovely cards Hilary! I really like the deep jewel like colours and that tree stamp especially is gorgeous! I wonder what it would look like 'paper pieced' to make extra use of the patchwork design. Ignore me - I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to messing about with little snippets. Wonder why?
Hugs
Di xx
That is a nice stamp as Di says would look good paper pieced too. You've designed some wonderful cards with it.
For someone who doesn't like making Christmas cards, you've certainly brought your creativity out in force Hilary, these are so lovely, I really like the non traditional colours and designs on each card. I do a lot of moaning about them too. :)
Hi Hilary
Many thanks for your lovely comment on my blog.
Loving your Christmas cards very much .. .. .. lots of potential for that scrummy tree stamp. (Pleased to see it has some hearts on it too!) LOL!!!
Love and hugs
