Today is the 18th so time for a reminder for the current challenge over at We Love Stamping. The challenge where we love to see you using your stamps.
**Winter**
OR
**Anything Goes**
As the theme this month was winter, I wanted to use these little wintry house stamps by Woodware from a set by Jane Gill called Big Bubble Large Tops, but as they are quite small images I wasn't sure how to use them. Then I realised I have this die set by Heffy Doodle that I bought in their closing down sale. The images fitted perfectly.
I started by masking the edges of the little scalloped shapes and lightly inked the background with some cool Catherine Pooler ink colours. See the photo for the colours used. I then stamped the little house stamps in the same colour. I did think at the time that they would look good clear heat embossing, but I was short of time and feeling lazy, so I didn't do it. Of course, I regret that know, as the embossing would have helped the image stand out more. I then went hunting for some images that would fit the rectangular shapes and came across and old freebie stamp set from Simply Cards and Papercraft issue 196. I did the same thing but used slightly warmer colours.
The red frame was inked with polished CP ink, which I then backed with a panel inked with skylight CP ink. I think it helps the white borders pop. The sentiment is from a set by Uniko. I did briefly think about making it again with the heat embossing, but decided that life is too short to worry about such things. It is what it is!
Don't forget there is always a prize to be won and this month there are 3 prizes of stamp sets from AALL and Create. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out? The prize winner is selected randomly and in addition the DT will choose a top three for special mention.
I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is ensure that stamping (including digi) is featured somewhere your card. It would be great if you could join in with our theme, but anythings goes is always an option if you are out of ideas. The challenge will close at noon (UK time) on Wednesday 31st December.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

Lovely composition Hilary, those small stamps are ideal for the die set you have used, and great Christmassy colours xx
An effective way to use smaller stamps Hilary and still achieve a nice Winter feel.

Fantastic festive card, very effective with the small images
That's a great way to use the small stamps. I love the design and the tone-on-tone stamping and those perfect scalloped rectangles too. Great card, Hilary!
Such darling little houses for your postage stamp design, Hilary! We should all embrace your 'all is calm' Christmas crafting mindset!

Such a lovely use of small stamps and dies, they look like they are made for each other. I admire you in getting everything so central on the die and levelling it on the card, it would be all over the place if it was me.🤣

Oh, the things we think in retrospect. Nevertheless, you have made a darling card with those little houses using a design that's perfect for them. You have the ideal placement for your sentiment, too. Happy holidays, Hilary! I'm having Christmas lunch with a girlfriend today and it will be lovely.
Great design, love the card. Anesha
Hi Hilary,
I love the stamps on your card! And the little images fit perfectly.
Ans yes you were quite right about the black-out technic. It was easier to do than it seemed....
Just love your quintet of images in the rectangle frame, Hilary - you're right, the white scalloped layer really makes them pop!!
Hilary this is gorgeous - love the wee stamps you have used. I agree about embossing making the images more obvious, but these days something has to give, and it's not going to be us in the middle!!
Blessings
Maxine
