We Love Stamping January Challenge

Today is the first Sunday of the month so time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping. Where we love to see you showcase your stamping.

Our theme this month is:

**Anything but Square**
OR
**Anything Goes**

I would like to welcome our guest designer Chris. I hope you get a chance to visit her.

I rarely make square cards, but I decided to depart from my normal rectangle A6 card and make a round one, as I have recently purchased this round frame die from Clarity. I also have the square one and the oval one. The die is one piece but it cuts 10 frames. I do love the effect as a background, but you have to ensure you are in the right chilled out frame of mind before using them because they are quite challenging to cut, and then there are all the tiny pieces to clean out - it takes a while! I cut it from mat gold Dailer Rowney 300gsm card.

I have a pack of large 8x8 square cream card blanks so I decided to cut one into a 6 inch circle using my scan n cut. After figuring out how to fit the open card onto my mat for cutting, I was pleased when it worked. The frames were individually glued onto the cream circular base. you can see at the top of the card that there are some hearts without a cream background, this is where the fold is for the card base.

The stamp set is by Pinkfresh Studio and is called Thankful for Friends. I stamped the flower and gold heat embossed it before cutting it with the matching die. I have the matching stencils and hotfoil plate from this set too, but decided to just colour it with alcohol markers.

The sentiment is from the same set and was also gold heat embossed. I think this one will be for my younger daughters 44th birthday later this month.

Don't forget there is always a prize to be won and this month there are 3 prizes of stamp sets from ALL & CREATE. Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out? The prize winner is selected randomly and in addition the DT will choose a top three for special mention.

I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is ensure stamping (including digi) is seen somewhere on your card front, it no longer needs to be the main focus. Please also mention the products used. It would be great if you could join in with our theme, but anythings goes is always an option if you are out of ideas. The challenge will close at noon (UK time) on Wednesday 29th January.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

Before I go I will just share another card I made with the oval frames and the hotfoil plate from the same Pinkfresh set:

The flower was foiled with a light green foil, but it looks gold in places because of the light. It has been so dark here that I have had to resort to taking my photos under my daylight lamp. This is for someone special who is turning 90 next week. It has taken me ages to make. If you look at the insert, you can see that I have used matching dies that cut out the frame shape. I love that, so I bought the matching dies for each frame set. The insert is pearlescent paper and I have backed it with pink

I am sharing this at:
Double D Challenge - 9th Birthday. Happy birthday and congrats on 9 years. I hope my 90th birthday card is special enough to join you this month.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Beautiful cards, great use of the frames, gluing them all down must be as much fun as poking all the bits out, but well worth it. Love seeing a circular and oval card x

Oh Hilary, your card is just beautiful! What a unique & fun die set! Purple is my favorite color so of course your focus flower really spoke to me! Thanks so much for joining in our birthday fun at our Double D challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.

I love that you used all the pieces of the intricate dies Hilary, they look wonderful in gold. The stamp is beautiful, and the sentiment is lovely. A rich, elegant card. Seeing you made a 90th birthday, I had a rush one to send abroad for a January birthday too. Take care. x

Oh wow, it's such a beautiful die. I can imagine it took you ages to make it. It looks like a precision job! But the results are incredibly beautiful! The 90 year old will lover it, I'm sure!

What a fantastic card for a very special birthday, Hilary! It was certainly worth all the time it took to die cut and get all those little pieces punched out! The second card is just as pretty!

You've done a fantastic job of using all those die cuts in the same card. The effect is just marvelous! And it was a great idea to use gold ep for the flower - everything matches very neatly. But I was so lost in them that I didn't even notice the sentiment until your close up shot! Ha ha! I did like the circular ones better - I dunno - they feel like they fill up more space? But, both the cards are just awesome, Hilary!

Wow! I know what you mean about being in the right frame of mind... I have a few dies that don't get used often enough because of this. That's a lot of skinny frames, but so nice that you can use however many you wish. It's gorgeous on both cards! What a lovely back drop for your sweet Pinkfresh flower, both cards. I also love how you did the insert on the second card. I'd say your oval card is perfect for sharing in our Double D challenge. Thanks for joining us, Hilary!
