CAS Mix Up September

Today is 1st of the month so time for a new challenge over at CAS Mix Up. This month we are using watercolour and Leslie is our host and she wants us to use autumn colours on our project. We also have a wonderful guest designer Ros over at  Mikeysmon. She does the most amazing watercolour pictures so this challenge is ideal for her and I guarantee that a visit to her blog will be well worth it.

I bought this Woodware stamp from a local craft store recently and wanted to use it, so decided that this was the time. I stamped it in black and then clear heat embossed the image and used 5 of my zig pens to colour it. I wanted the paint to bleed out from the tree to give a kind of halo effect.

When the tree was done I thought the white of the background was a bit harsh so I randomly took one of my 5 colours and used it to create a background wash. In retrospect I am not sure that the lovely deep red was the best colour to choose as it is very pink once watered down, but I think it might be growing on me.

The sentiment was heat embossed and the panel die cut and mounted on the lovely deep brown card base - done.

I do hope that we might have inspired you to take part in our challenge this month.

You have until 24th to join us and don't forget to visit the blog to get more inspiration and some links to technique videos to help.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Mixed media paper; adorable scorable coated card
Ink: Zig clean colour real brush pens
Stamps: Woodware, mini round twiggy tree; sentiment free from magazine
Dies: Create a Smile stitched rectangle

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

In my part of the world these colors are exactly what you see when leaves turn, so this image is the right Fall hues to me. Love that you used the rusty brown cardbase to show off your lovely tree.

Beautiful watercolor effect for your Zigs colored Autumn tree and soft watercolored background. Adding a brown (white space) was perfect for the Autumn card. TFS my Hilary. Love and Hugs...Nancy

My part of the world, we don't get so many reds and browns during autumn, so I love looking at this card, the colors look so gorgeous! I love the halo look as well.
