CAS Mix Up Reminder

Today is the 15th so time for a reminder over at  CAS Mix Up. This month we are using watercolour and Jenny is our host. She wants us to use loose watercolouring.

This time I stamped and heat embossed this little foliage heart and then loosely watercoloured it by dabbing some drops of colour with my Zig pens and then spritzing with water and moving the colour around a bit with a brush.

It was very straightforward and I was quite pleased with the look.

I sent this one to my mother in law who celebrated her 87th birthday on the 8th.

I actually made another as well:

This time I allowed the green from the leaves to bleed out into the background and I finished off with some grey splatters from a paint pen. I didn't use any yellow paint it is just the green watered down, but I did put a light blue wash on the paper after I had masked and stamped the image.

I am loving all the examples of loose watercolouring in the gallery so far. Have you added yours yet?

Here is a little reminder of the rules, but the most important is to remember to keep it CAS.

You have until 24th to join us and don't forget to visit the blog to get more inspiration and some links to technique videos to help.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

I am sharing the first card at:

Very nice, Hilary! I think this challenge is the most wonderful thing for encouraging those who thought they couldn't watercolor. I'm loving all the samples. Your two cards today are super pretty!

The changing colours are part of the fun of watercolouring. Green and pink is one of my favourite combos and I like both of these. x

Both cards are beautiful!!! And I also love this technique, because you can give the colors the opportunity and space to spread out and be amazed by the result.

Both really lovely, and loose, Hilary! It's amazing what can happen when we just let go of our need to control every little thing, right?
Happy birthday to your mother-in-law!
