NBUS #34

Happy Saturday
Last week I posted some cards using my new supplies received at Christmas and the wonderful Darnell pointed out that I didn't share them on her NBUS #34 January challenge. I didn't really have an answer except that I often get in a muddle finding and linking to challenges, but that is no excuse, so here I am today to add one of my humble creations to the gallery before it closes.

I have a soft spot for turnabout stamps and my collection is growing. I can't really explain it because they can be very frustrating to use, but I do love the look you can create with them. This is my newest and is the Wreath turnabout by Concord & 9th. This set actually has 2 different turnabouts included. I have used them both but you will have to wait to see the second one.

I surprised myself with this card as it is quite busy, but I am pleased with it. I like the bold colours and the purple and white contrast. I hope you like it too. The white panel has been embossed with a Spellbinders texture plate called diamond opulence.

The white diecuts are the coordinating dies for the Harvest Wreath turnabout stamp set, but they coordinate well with this set too.

Before I sign off today I just thought I would share this card that I made with a wonderful Woodware butterfly stamp following this post. I said I would have a go at highlighting the flowers on the butterflies wings by using watercolour pens direct to stamp. At my second attempt, I gave up with the pens and used a couple of CP ink pads, I made this card:

It worked up to a point but it still looked a bit flat so I clear heat embossed the image before blending the background and practiced my splatter technique - still not brilliant, but I think they work.

Editing this post in order to share this card at Dutch Card Lovers #355 where they are asking us to use a resist technique. Thanks to GerJanne for pointing it out to me and for assuring me that it is not too late to link up. I think this will be my first entry at this challenge. I hope there will be many more.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Wow! Your turnabout card is absolutely gorgeous with those bold colours and the purple and white around!! Not your usual style, but very interesting and striking!!
Love your second attempt with the big Woodware butterfly, it looks really amazing and love the yellow halo that brings it to life, as well the splatters and the embossing!

Fabulous bold colors for your turnabout stamp card, the frilly white die cut and the colored card base are just perfectly combined. Your sweet butterfly looks wonderful on that artsy background.

Oh wow, I like both cards! The first one is so bright and the little branches make it so delicate. Now I've a basket full of craft supplies I've never used before. But I think it costs me too much time to link the cards at NBUS, every time...
The second card is beautiful too. Is that the resist technic. You should take a look at Dutchcardlovers.blogspot.com
It's not only for Dutch cardlovers ;-)

I love the bold colors you've used for your turn-about, Hilary - and those fabulous white die-cuts are the perfect frame for them!
A fun way to ink up this pretty butterfly, too!

I've never tried a turn-around stamp and think I'd get dizzy trying that technique, but I love the circle design and brilliant colors, Hilary! The white die cuts add extra interest and fun! Your butterfly is awesome! Love all the detailing and the beautiful background!

Terrifically lovely cards. Their vibrant, upbeat palettes and images are just the thing to help perk up one's mood as we slog along through these dark, icy days of mid-winter.

Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS, my sweet friend. I only encourage it because I know it provides those who visit with such a wealth of design inspiration (as well as a reminder to use our schtuff), especially in these times when we are feeling a bit discouraged by the pandemic going on and on. ❤

You have really conquered the concept of the turnabout stamps and it's right that you are pleased with this bold and colorful design! Love the brilliant bouquet with the purple and white textured background. And what a stunner stylized butterfly that is! I can see where it would be fun trying out different coloring techniques with it. I love all your makes! Hugs, Darnell

Hilary, sorry to be so late to visit, but glad I'm here now so I can see how you totally knocked this one out of the park! You're the best turnabouter ever! I've never tried it because pretty sure I'd be frustrated. Your efforts are so worth it. These colors are amazing! Such a wonderful combo all set against the white and purple. Fabulous with the dies. Seriously a brilliant creation! I don't find it busy at all. You've achieved a design with a lot of interest and eye candy without making it overwhelming. Then on to your butterfly... I'm so glad you shared your card and story. This one is a whole different journey and also so beautiful. I like the colors and highlighting on the butterfly as well as your splattered background. I think you did a great job all the way around!
