Zig Zag Squares

Today I have a quick post for a challenge that I did not want to miss. The challenge is to use grasshopper green at this months let's squash it  and since green is my favourite colour I felt I should join in.

One of my recent distractions that I mentioned yesterday took me to the Craft Clearance website, where I just happened to find a number of things that I thought I needed. This is a great place to shop if your finances are a bit tight and you don't mind buying old designs. This card is made with 3 things from that haul, all by Creative Expressions.

The star of the show is the embossing folder, I took a piece of lime green cardstock and embossed it after inking the folder with crushed olive distress oxide, that really made the design pop out. I trimmed the embossed panel and mounted it on a stitched rectangle cut from the same card.

The happy die (only 75pence) was cut twice from the same card as the cardbase, which is a paler green on the inside, and stacked to give the shadow. The 'day' was cut from a birthday die (not new). Don't you love Lily of the Valley? I do and they smell wonderful, so I was very pleased to find this die at a bargain price too. I coloured it with alcohol markers and used the negative from the die cut to stencil the insert and the envelope and the card was done. No stamping to be seen.

Definitely worthy purchases, if you can make such a beautiful card out of them! I love the look of the zig-zig using little squares - so cute! Green is such a calming color, and you've creation reflects that. :)
And you won't believe I made a card using the exact same technique today and used an old embossing folder as well! - its gonna come up a couple of days later, though :)

Hi Hilary,
The green card (LOL) is a beautiful one. And oh yes, I love Lily of the Valley. My mum have had them in her Bridal bouquet.

Wow Hilary, your card is very impressive!! Love the fabulous EF you used and the Crushed Olive choice is just perfect to add brightness, as well the white flowers of the lilies of the valley! Here in my zone these flowers don't grow well, we never have snow and it’s too hot for them. But love their elegance and sweetness!

Full of Springtime Hilary. Lily of the Valley always reminds me of my Gran's cottage, she used to have patches of it everywhere, yet these days you rarely see it.

I love lilies of the valley and here in the forest they grow in large numbers and they have already conquered my garden. Every year I pick a bouquet and enjoy the delicate scent in the house. Your card is beautifully made and a nice anticipation of the time of the lily of the valley.

Fabulous work. It looks so lovely even though I was put off for life myself by a green school uniform!

Hilary, you're a woman after my own heart with the bargain shopping! It matters not to me if an item is older because by the time I pull it out of my NBUS basket it's probably retired anyway, sheesh. You're much better about that than I am. What beautiful finds here and so expertly dressed up and combined! Love the different shades of green and the cheerful Lily of the Valley. You did such a good job with the inking of the embossing folder, too. Must try that with DOX inks as others haven't worked well for me yet. As always, you've inspired me!
