We Love Stamping August Challenge

Today is the first Sunday of the month so time for a new challenge over at We Love Stamping. The challenge where you can showcase your stamps and your skill at using them.

This month our theme is:

** Anything Stamped with the option of Masculine   **

I would like to welcome our guest designer Liz from Crafty Sunflower this month. I hope you get a chance to pay her a visit.

I know that many of us struggle with masculine cards and I am no different. I looked all through my stamps and chose a striped background by Uniko and these little cups by Clearly Besotted. It is the first time they have been used, they were a prize from the Card Chain Challenge some time ago. It feels good to have finally used them.

I stamped my striped background with a blue/green ink and then I rotated it and stamped it again with a different blue ink. I had to move it and stamp a second time to get the full panel covered.  I like the look so I then stamped and fussy cut the cups and heart in one of the same inks. I arranged them on top of the sentiment so it acts like a table. The sentiment (stamped in the other ink) and background were matted onto mat gold card stock and adhered to a dark coated card base.

This is going to my brother in law for his birthday as he is always drinking tea.

Don't forget there is always a prize to be won and this month the prize has been kindly donated by Highlight Crafts, there are two prizes, a collection of masculine themed dies and Poinsettias.

Why don't you head over to the challenge blog to check it out? The prize winner is selected randomly and in addition the DT will choose one entry to join us as a guest designer for a future challenge.

I hope I have inspired you to join us this month, all you have to do is  ensure stamping (including digi) is the main focus on your card. It is always nice when the prompt is followed, but anything goes is also an option if you are stuck for ideas. The challenge will close at noon (UK time) on Wednesday 30th August.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

I am off to Birmingham today to see my granddaughters and will be able to call in on the Festival of Quilts on the way. It is always a bonus when my visits coincide with a show I like to visit at the NEC. I haven't done any quilting for a long time, but I do like to see the stunning pieces of art that are on view in the exhibition. I have given myself strict instructions not to buy any fabric. I already have loads and haven't been using it. On Monday I shall be driving home with my 2 granddaughters and collecting my grandson from London on the way. It will be a full on week for me so I may not get to visit everyone for a few days.

Here is a picture from my visit to the RHS Hyde Hall flower show this week. It rained all the way there and all the way home, but not a drop while I was there - that was lucky. It is such a beautiful place and they have pots of beautiful Aeoniums, which look so much better than mine.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

The strong blues make for a perfect masculine card Hilary, like you I struggle with them and need a prompt.

Sounds like a busy week ahead, Margo was here for three days this weeks and we are all exhausted, mine you she's not yet two and like a Duracell.

What a wonderful card Hilary - love your colours, and a beautiful composition overall.
Sounds like a busy week ahead with loads of family time :), never mind the inspiration of the quilt show. What a great time you must have had at the flower show

What a cleverly designed card Hilary. I love your 'tablecloth' idea. I am always drinking tea too! Good to use a new stamp too. How nice you can stop off at a show at the NEC. I would love to start quilting..but...I already have too much papercraft, cross stitch and cake decorating supplies which I am trying to cull without collecting more in the way of fabric...lol!! xx

Fabulous masculine card, even if you struggle with them you are also so skilled! Absolutely love the effect you achieved with the striped stamp by Uniko, that background is just perfect with those cups! Lovely colours combo too!
Have a fabulous weekend with family and exhibition! It sounds as an exciting time!
Beautiful photo, such wonderful place to spend some time!

It sounds like this little set of cups was meant for your brother-in-law, Hilary! Lovely in your duo of blues - do I spy my favorite gold card, too?
I'm so happy your day at RHS was dry - you must be in your glory here!
Have fun with the grands!

Hi Hilary,
Your card is a beauty in blue! Love the cups and the gingham.
And now it's the week with your grandchildren! I think you will be tired afterwards, but satisfied. Enjoy their visit!
The show with quilts...it must be spectacular! I love seeing it, as many works of art. My only art is cardmaking ;-)
We will see you, when you'll find some time. Don't hurry! Take the time with your grandchildren. Before you know, they will be adults!

Great card! I love the little tea cups and the grid background - couldn't make out the two colors, though. The design looks great with this color combo as well.
Wish you a great time with your grandkids! I didn't know about the Festival of Quilts, so thanks for the link as well. Hope you have a great time there as well (and I'm curious on how you'll hold out on buying anything! :)

A super cute masculine card with the clever background and tea theme! The sentiment makes a perfect table for the mugs. Nice blues. You've been busy enjoying life and that's a good thing. Your trip to the flower show and the quilt show both sound especially lovely. What a beautiful scene in the photo!
