This is my third post today because I have had a busy time this July and it has, and is, taking me away from my craft room and computer. I have a few hours free today so I am posting the cards that I made last weekend. I don't want to miss the deadlines for the challenges I made them for and tomorrow I have my grandson, who is 6, coming to stay. I shall be driving to London to pick him up, really looking forward to it as I haven't seen much of him recently.
My 2 cards in this post are for the July Twofer #18, the theme this month is garden.
Here are my cards:
The first card is a bit of a departure from my normal style but I saw Jennifer McGuire make one of these see through cards and wanted to give the technique a go. I used a layered rose die by Altenew that was free with Simply Cards & Papercraft Magazine. Although the technique worked the rose was a little small so I had to add something else to fill the gaps and chose a small layered flower. This is the die that I used on both cards. I chose to secure my card front to the base along the side rather than the top as it was a little flimsy in places and I didn't think it would stand up if I attached it at the top. The message inside reads 'on your birthday'.
You can see the see-through effect in this picture.
My second card is a friendship card that came about during an afternoon spent with my alcohol inks last weekend. I created the alcohol ink background on yupo paper and stamped the small butterflies with archival ink that I then wiped away to leave the shadow of the stamp. I die cut the wreath and the flowers and arranged them with the little heart on the wreath. The wreath was then attached to the yupo paper which was mounted on some craft foam and attached to the card base. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed in Wow pastel glazier mint EP. I was very pleased that the EP seemed to exactly match the blue coated card used for the wreath and heart.
I am going to enter this card in CAS mix it up July. I was also going to enter it in the Snippets playground but I have missed the deadline!
Finally here are some pictures of my garden taken this morning:
I am very proud of the Aeonium Zwartkop you can see in the white pot, it started with one small plant bought several years ago.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Hilary, so good to see you in the gallery. YOur birthday card is full of flowery fun and it must have taken a bit of time to put together. YOur friendship card is darling too with those ghostly butterflies and bright flowers adorning the wreath. How fun that the ep matched. Thank you for playing along with Twofer Challenge #18.
Another pretty alcohol ink lift piece, Hilary! Love the lifted butterfly and pretty wreath! A garden full of beautiful flowers on your see through card! Thanks so much for sharing with us again at CAS Mix Up!
What a gorgeous garden and so many wonderful plants in pots, Hilary! Thank you for sharing! That takes a lot of work, but oh, it's so satisfying when it all looks this beautiful! Very similar to card-making when you think about it! I am very impressed with both your fantastic designs this month. I've yet to try that JM technique on your first card and you sure aced it! Great idea to use the smaller flowers to fill in and to secure it on the side! Great colors, too! And I'm swooning over that deep blue card with the pretty wreath and sweet dangling heart! Again I'm impressed, because I tried stamping off with my archival ink without success. Your effort is so pretty! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #18! Enjoy the precious time with your grandson; mine loved making cards with me at that age! Hugs, Darnell
Two totally different card but equally pretty Hilary, love the florals and layering up to create the see through card, I also gave this a try the other day. The garden is looking good, the weather has been perfect for growth so far this year. Have fun with your Grandson.

Your layered floral garden birthday card is a delight, Hilary ... there's so much wonderful dimension, depth and texture ... puts me in mind of a rose bed! The garden wreath is so pretty ... the softly coloured AI panel contrasts wonderfully with the bold blue background ... and the subtle lifted butterflies and those little flowers with the sweet heart are so dainty! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
Wow your first card is amazing and absolutely stunning and what an eye catching technique x Your CAS friendship card is beautiful. Love the use of the dark card stock which shows off the die cut wreath etc to perfection x. The lift technique looks so pretty and great that all the light blues matched up. Than you for adding this beautiful card to the CAS Mix Up Gallery and so good to see you playing along again x
Enjoy family time and thank you for sharing the pretty photos of your fabulous garden x.
Lovely garden pictures Hilary You have to much beautiful colours in your garden. They must inspire you daily!
And then you have your garden on a card. Great work with the floating die-cut technique. Your rose card is so pretty! And I love your AI card ... such a beautiful mix of coloured for the background. Great lift of your butterfly images, and sweet design with the flowery white wreath with colourful flowers in the corner. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
Two wonderful cards Hilary. The colours are gorgeous and I love all the dies. Super photos of your garden too xx
Now I know how you can make so beautiful flower cards again and again, you look at everything in your beautiful garden.
Gah! Your garden is amazing! I have to say the same about your cards too! I love the texture of all the layers on your first card. The fact that it's a see through card just puts it over the top! Your wreath is gorgeous with the alcohol inked center, and those colors in your flowers are perfect with it! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
What pretty cards,.... and what a pretty garden!
