It's the first of July so time for another challenge at CAS Mix Up. This month it is stencils, our host is Nancy and she has asked us to use stencil tracing. We also have 3 guest designers this month:
I hope you get a chance to pay them a visit.
I know that this is one of Nancy' favourite techniques to use with stencils so if you visit her blog you will find plenty of examples.
I have kept my card very simple this month:
I started by masking the card front with post it tape and lightly blending distress oxide onto the card. Then I place the stencil (from TCW) and added more colour with blending brushes. Once I was happy with that I removed the stencil and traced round the outline with a fineliner pen. I also used a fineliner to draw the frame. The simple sentiment is stamped in varsafine ink.
I hummed and ha'd for ages about adding embellishments and nothing really looked right so in the end I settled on 3 tiny little star gems, just to give a tiny bit of added interest.
Do check out The challenge blog for much more inspiration and I hope to see your creation in the gallery. This is such a good technique, it has to be worth a try.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.
xx

Love this mix of colors, Hilary, and that pretty outlined design all tucked in the corner! The little gems add just enough sparkle!

Its a beautiful card, fabulous technique and you've pulled it off masterfully.
Beautiful tone on tone purple ink blending with the hint of blue. The off the corner and black matting are the perfect match for the stencil outlining. Fabulous card dear Hilary.
Hilary I love that you outlined the frame as well as your stencil - it really does bring this beautiful design home, while using this month's technique!
I haven't one stencil this pretty in my stash!

Simply Beautiful sponged background and stenciling, Hilary. Loved your stenciled image with your hand drawn outlining. Really gave your image dimension. Your sweet star gemstones and tiny sentiment along with your outlined border were the perfect additions to your CAS design. TFS my friend. Stay safe and Creative. Hugs...Nancy
Really fabulous design Hilary! I LOVE your blended colours and your stencil tracing. Such a great idea to add more colour after laying down the stencil. I love how it is lighter than the background and it really stands out. Great idea to ouline the masked area too! I agree that it didn't need anything else, this is PERFECT! xx
Great Stencil Tracing Hilary, love the soft colours, pretty stencil and that it is a one layered design.
This is beautiful Hilary. I do love the CAS look and the subtle changing colours. Thanks for having me a GD x
A beautiful card. The stencil tracing looks great around the details of the flower.
What a beautiful card! Love the way you've blended in the colors from the corner, and love the colors themselves. The stencil is just perfect for this technique, isn't it! Love it!
Oh wow--you did freehand tracing! Absolutely beautiful, Hilary!
This is SO pretty Hilary with that lovely outlined stenciling and beautiful colors you used!
