An unexpected Christmas Card

Today I have a very quick post to share a Christmas card I made after finding a background piece I made with alcohol inks a while back. I thought it would make a good background to a new poinsettia die I recently bought.

I inked a piece of bristol board with distress inks before die cutting and stacking 3 times, mounted it onto the AI background and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, done!

The sentiment is actually heat embossed in poppy red, but it doesn't up on the green card, never mind. you can't really see in the picture but there is a bit of foiling on the background that gives a bit of shine. I also added some stickles to the flower centre.

I am sharing this at:

It's always a pleasure when something ready inspires a card, isn't it? :) I love crafting in this way. Your background piece looks amazing with the CE poinsettia die cut! Enlarged the photo and saw the pink foil, gorgeous detail!
have a lovely weekend

Lovely background for the Poinsettia, Hilary! I love the die cut itself too - great buy! Too bad the red embossing doesn't show as it is, but the green cardstock looks magnificent!

Eventually here Hilary and of course a very pretty Christmas card when I arrived.

I've got two boxes of new alcohol inks waiting to be played with, bought the full set from Lavinia as the colours looked nice and bright compared with my old Ranger ones. I found a couple of new ways of using them recently, one onto very smooth silver glitter card which I tried out with my old inks and gives a lovey finish. Still rather hooked on using it on vellum as well.

A beautiful card was created from your find. I should also search my leftovers ... * wink *

This is lovely Hilary, the die cut is very striking over that AI background. I think you could press that die into year round service just by switching up the colours, it doesn’t scream “poinsettia” so obviously you couldn’t disguise it!
