Dream Big

I made todays card for my cousins' 66th birthday and in this country that means pension day, the day she starts receiving her state pension. I figured that as she will have a little more money coming in it might encourage her to dream big.

It took me 3 attempts to get this right, but I am glad I persevered. I had trouble with the ink bleeding under the stencil and messy inky fingers, you know what happens with them!

Once I succeeded with the inking I stamped the sentiment in a dark brown ink and added a few dark brown enamel dots. I was quite pleased with the way everything matched.

I am sharing this at:
Seize the Birthday: make a sunset scene

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bristol Board; Adorable Scorable Matt-tastic for card base
Ink: Distress ink, colours as in photo; Catherine Pooler, icing on the cake
Stamps: Free with magazine
Stencil: Newton's Nook 2 layer
Dies: Create a Smile stitched rectangle (A6)

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Your ink blending worked out really well and love the ombré look. I like how you placed the trees so they overpay the background, a. Lovely design I always think. A great scene and your friend will love this. Fab to see you at CASology

Wow, Hillary, I think this is the prettiest sunset I've ever seen on a card. You nailed it and also the idea to "dream big" now that is so spot on.

This card is seriously fantastic. Love it big time!

From the 1970s to the early 90s, my paternal grandparents were smitten with taking trips to Hawaii, often (sweetly) bringing home little souvenirs for us grandkids in the process. I well remember stickers, postcards, and t-shirts with similar looking tropical sunsets and just had the loveliest rush of nostalgia thinking about those items again for the first time in a good long while.
