Happy Birthday Allsorts

Today I am sharing a quick card that I made recently with a new BetterPress plate from Spellbinders. As Allsorts are celebrating a special birthday, I thought it was the ideal time to share it. I can't pass up the chance to win one of the amazing prizes on offer either!

I pressed the image onto hot pressed watercolour paper with Betterpress mulberry ink and painted the flowers with watercolour pens. I also used a Gelly Roll sparkle pen on the flower centres and the buds to give a bit of sparkle (sorry the photos don't show that).

I inked the edges of the mat in the same mulberry ink and mounted the panel onto an orange card base. A few sequins finished it off. I used transfers to add the foiling on the insert.

I am quite pleased with this one. Simple and effective. I also really like using my press plates for foiling and have made several foiled cards with this one. The only trouble is, my Gemini Foilpress is playing up. I think the connection is loose and it often doesn't want to heat unless I fiddle about with it. I think too much pulling the hot plate in and out of the machine has compromised the connection - not sure what I will do about it. It appears that the machine is no longer available in the UK.

Here are a few more cards made with this press plate:
This one is foiled in gold with a gold metallic watercolour background

This one was pressed onto textured paper with Brilliance pearlescent ink (rocket red gold). I used my favourite embossing folder for the insert and envelope.

The other colours in this photo are pearlescent lavender and pearlescent lime. These inks work really well with the Betterpress and have a great shine. I have made 8 cards with this plate so far - pleased with that!

I am sharing the first card at:
Allsorts #781 - Happy Birthday Allsorts
Seize the Birthday - anything goes
NBUS #62 - my second entry this month
Addicted To CAS #258 - Code word Flower. I hope my embellishments don't compromise the CAS nature of this card

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

These plates make such special Birthday cards Hilary, each one very pretty and it's so nice to have whole collection ready to go. During my short experiment with my press I bought the A as all of our Granddaughters names begin with it and I did managed to get four done before it went off to a new home.

Lovely to see you at our Allsorts 15th Birthday celebrations, many thanks for joining in.

These are really a set of wonderful, charming birthday cards. I love the look of the letterpress, be it with the foil or otherwise. And I especially loved the look of the one with the gold metallic watercolour background - that one's definitely my favorite!!
Too bad about your Gemini Foilpress; hopefully you'll be able to get it repaired or something - because I've been absolutely loving looking at your foiled cards. Good luck!

Seldom have I seen a prettier alphabet stamp, but I know the entire line up of these alphabet press plates is gorgeous. I adore your card with the yellow flowers and sequins. All your foiled results are lovely. I hope you'll be able to continue with your foiling as I know you've enjoyed it so much.

What a beautiful stamp and how wonderful there are several sentiments to use with it Hilary! Your cards are all so different and all beautiful. Lovely coloring on the blooms on the first one and I love the shimmer with the gold and pearlescent inks! Julia xx

I love what you've done with your H BP Copperplates, Hilary! Such a wonderful set of notecards to have at your disposal! This happy birthday card is bound to put you in the running for that prize!

Sorry to read that your Glimmer has stopped working properly. The connection on mine has always been an issue. I wonder how many of us have written about that problem to Spellbinder... it got me nowhere, I'm sorry to say.

Hi Hilary,
I think these cards are very special....The big H is beautiful in all the technics you've used it! It would be a pity, if the machine isn't available in your country. If it is in The Netherlands and you need some supplies or.., let me know. This summer I will be in the UK, maybe I can send it to you when I'm there?

Beautiful BetterPress and foiled cards, so frustrating when equipment cant take constant use. That's what worries me about my foiling machine. At least the BetterPress shouldn't break down ♥

Gorgeous card Hilary. The mulberry ink paired with the shades of orange makes a wonderful colour combination. It's so great how much fun you are having with your pressing plate. The variations of the same image in different colours goes to show that changing the colour makes such an impact. Each one is beautiful and different from the rest. xx

Fabulous and so elegant cards with your press plate, Hilary! The H is just perfect for some different sentiments and it's also the initial of your name, great to have it in your stash! Love all the shining and especially love the first card, so well coloured with the sparkling gel pens!

Absolutely gorgeous cards! Fun to see someone else who loves Brilliance ink pads! Most of mine are probably 20 years old, but still work great.

Very beautiful and elegant cards Hilary! I’ve been trying to resist the letterpress trend. I have the WE R MEMORIES LETTERPRESS, but it is very messy and not many good plates. But seeing your cards makes me think it would be worth it, especially if they can be used for foiling too.
