CAS Mix Up August Challenge

It is the first of the month so time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up, I do hope you will be able to join us. This month we are using mixed media and Nancy is our host. She wants us to use emboss resist with our on our mixed media CAS cards. Our guest designer this month is the fabulous Brenda why not pop over and pay her a visit?

I have used stamping, embossing, watercolouring and die cutting on this card.

I started with a panel of watercolour paper and stamped a background stamp with versamark and clear heat embossed it. I then took 2 colours of brusho paints, scarlet and lime green and spritzed the panel with water. I then walked away and left it to dry. I do love the effect. Brusho paints are just perfect for this technique because you get so many different colours. The little grains that might be different to the stated colour get trapped in the embossing and so you get this fabulous multicolour effect. I love it.

You have until 24th to join us and don't forget to visit the challenge blog to get more inspiration and some links to technique videos to help inspire you.

I am looking forward to seeing you in the gallery.

Supplies:
Cardstock: watercolour card; red 160gsm card; cream 350gsm base card
Ink: Versamark; Brusho paints, scarlet and lime green
Stamps: My Favourite Things, bundle of blossoms background stamp; sentiment Concord & 9th
Dies: Lisa Horton, tatty layers pretty tickseed panel

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today, I really appreciate it.

Gorgeous, artistic card Hilary! I love the technique of using the brushos on only a portion of the background design. The colours are fantastic, but it also leaves the subtle background stamp showing in the other areas. So creative, my friend! xx

The strong colours of the Brusho powders work brilliantly here Hilary, and love the way you have only coloured just one corner of it and left the rest just with the white embosing, and the red matted layer makes it pop. A beautiful card. x

The mix of colours on this fabulous card is wonderful. I so admire your patience at being able to walk away and let the Brushos do their thing... I'm so impatient, the end result is awesome!

I totally agree!! Brusho's making it look fabulous! I love that burst of color, and I love that you've kept it in the corner - what a show off of autumn colors!! Really love the look of this card, Hilary! :)

What a lovely card! I really like how you only used the brushos on a small portion of the embossed background! I have colorburst powders, so I will have to try using them over embossing. I never knew if it would cover up the white lines. Thanks for the inspiration! Sue N

Wowie wow! This is such a beautiful piece of art! The magic of Brushos looks amazing in your hands. I love that you colored just a corner of a whole background stamp. The way the colors blend and then fade out at the edges is remarkable.

This is so arty and loose and fantastic, Hilary! The best part of all, and the most inspiring, is the part where you said you "walked away!" Such self-control! Thank you for this teachable moment cuz I have a really hard time leaving schtuff alone to dry! Hugs, Darnell

Great make with the brushos and only highlighting part of your design. So effective to have it positioned off the card too.
